the one Spirit (Part 2)

God has given His Spirit, but which one? (1 Corinthians 2:12, 1 Corinthians 12:7-8, 2 Corinthians 1:22, 2 Corinthians 5:4-8, 1 John 3:24)

The Holy Spirit? – Luke 11:13, John 7:39, 1 Thessalonians 4:8, Ephesians 3:5
Father’s Spirit? – Romans 8:14, Matthew 10:20, John 15:26
Spirit of the Son? – Galatians 4:6, Luke 23:46, Colossians 1:27

God is/has ONE spirit (not multiple) (John 4:24, 1 Corinthians 12:11, Ephesians 2:18), Whom we refer to as “the Father” (1 Corinthians 8:6, Ephesians 4:6), Whos name is Jesus (Isaiah 9:6, John 5:43, John 10:25, John 12:28, John 17:6,11-12).

**Read 1 John 4:10-16 and John 17:20-26.**

God is His Word (John 1:1). His word is truth (John 17:17, 2 Corinthians 6:7, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, James 1:18). The truth is a spirit (John 14:17, John 15:26, John 16:13, 1 John 5:6). And God is a Spirit… therefore, God is the Word, and the Spirit of Truth.

Let me take this a step further:
*The Father raised Jesus Christ from the dead – Romans 6:4 (Who is also called the Spirit in 1 Peter 3:18)
*The Father dwells in us now – Romans 8:11
*The Father was in Jesus too – John 14:10-11, Colossians 1:19-20, Colossians 2:9, 2 Corinthians 5:19-20.
*We have the same promise of a resurrection Christ received from the Father because God’s Spirit gives us life (Romans 6:7-8, Romans 8:2,6,10, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Galatians 6:8).
*The Spirit of God gives life because the Spirit is the Word of God! (1 Corinthians 15:45, John 6:63, John 6:68-69, John 1:4, John 5:26, John 17:2)

This is the foundation of the Gospel Message: God gives His own Spirit to those whom He reveals the Son to and act upon their belief in the death of the Lamb (Romans 6:3-11). Buried with Him through baptism, we now take on God’s Spirit that gives life (that Spirit is the Word of God)! (Acts 2:38) This is the new Covenant Jesus speaks of in Matthew 26:28, Mark 14:24, and Luke 22:20 (or “new testament” as it is called in Hebrews 12:24).
